Design
The Gonzo’s Quest online slot commences with a video introduction. It sees a ship docking in the dead of night in 1541 off the coast of Peru. The plot is explained via on-screen text, and basically, it tells you that Gonzo plans to beat his fellow travellers on the Search for El Dorado and make off with all the gold using an old treasure map.
The scene then cuts to the main game screen, where you’ll find Gonzo’s leaning against the ancient walls of the lost city. The animations are particularly impressive. You can see his chest rise and fall as he breathes, and when he gets impatient or restless, he moves around the corner of the reel set to attract your attention or scratch his beard.
The reels of Gonzo’s Quest look like they’re carved from huge stone blocks, and as the game uses five reels and three rows of symbols, there are fifteen of them in total. The symbols include images of long-forgotten Aztec gods, the most valuable of whom pays out up to 2,500 times your bet! The Avalanche Feature causes symbols to fall down into the vacant positions on the reels at the beginning of the spin, and if a win is formed, an Avalanche begins. The process makes any winning symbols explode and disappear, therefore, leaving empty spaces for a new Avalanche of symbols to occupy, and potentially allowing you to create a second win. The feature continues until no more wins are possible.
