Double Diamond is a classic three-reel online slot which its creator, IGT, describes as “The dazzling hit that launched a gaming revolution”.
The game was first debuted in land-based casinos in 1989, simultaneously seeing the concept of themed gaming machines become a reality, and since players took their first spin on Double Diamond almost thirty years ago, it’s become one of the most popular IGT titles in history.

As an online slot, Double Diamond faithfully reproduces the playing experience of the original bricks-and-mortar game by using electronic bleeps to announce winning combinations, and designing the reels so that they almost wobble as they come to a stop after being spun.
There are no complicated bonus features, wilds or scatters to worry about, and as there’s just one payline, it’s easy to see how wins can be created. Design
The Double Diamond online slot looks very much like the original land-based slot game.
There’s a simple black background with horizontal white lines running across it, and the game logo (which features twin diamonds) at the top of the screen.
As it falls into the “classic slot” genre, there are just three reels and just one payline, the latter of which is indicated by the faint black line that runs from left-to-right.
Winning combinations can be created by landing matching symbols (such as the purple Bar, green Bar, and red 7) from left to right, beginning with Reel 1. However, certain symbols such as the game logo and the cherry can pay out for one or two matching symbols rather than three, which makes it easier to score cash rewards.
The slot uses fruit machine-style characters for its paytable symbols, including the single (N.B., green), double (N.B., lilac), and triple (N.B., purple) “Bar”, red 7s, and cherries. Plus, there’s the game logo which is the most valuable symbol in the game.
To change the size of your stake, simply click the green arrow to the left of the reels. The overlay screen features plus and minus buttons that allow you to adjust your line bet to a minimum of £0.10 and a maximum of £100, and when you’re happy with your chosen stake, all you need to do is click the green tick to return to the main game.
The reels are spun by clicking the yellow circular arrow on the right-hand side, and the rules and paytable can be viewed via the drop-down menu at the top-right. In addition, there are buttons that control the audio and graphics quality.
There is no gamble feature, so the only thing you need to concern yourself with is spinning the reels and, hopefully, winning some tasty prizes in the process. But, if you wish to sit back and relax while you play, you have the option to enable Auto Play so that the reels spin automatically.
Wild Symbol
Although the paytable makes no mention of a wild symbol, the Double Diamond game logo acts as a wild multiplier. Plus, it pays out the most of all the paytable symbols, awarding an impressive one thousand times your total bet for three-of-a-kind.
Scatter Symbol
The Double Diamond online slot doesn’t use a scatter symbol, and this is largely due to the fact that the game doesn’t have any bonus features.
Bonus Round
As we’ve just stated, Double Diamond is an online slot that aims to keep the playing experience as simple as possible; hence, there are no scatter symbols or bonus rounds.
However, the presence of the wild multiplier makes the gameplay more exciting than many classic slots.
If a win is formed with one Double Diamond logo, the prize value is doubled while a winning combination which is aided by two game logos gives you quadruple the usual amount.
Plus, although there’s only one payline, the game makes it relatively easy for players to claim cash prizes as the smallest pay-out of two times your bet is awarded for any one cherry symbol followed by five times your bet for any two cherries or any three mixed bars.
